The Functional Architect is the “go-to” implementation leader, expected to provide expert guidance and delivery for functional area engagements. This individual serves as the billable functional leader on Workday implementations. This person is a Senior Workday product expert who works closely with Engagement Managers, Managers, functional area leads, and senior client resources. This person will provide overarching strategic guidance and leadership on engagements to ensure a robust and complete solution that meets the clients’ needs and allows for future enhancements with limited rework.
Key Responsibilities:
Provide functional leadership on multiple, concurrent Workday implementations across all functional areas (for example, Core HCM, Core and Advanced Compensation, Benefits, Talent, Performance, Recruiting and Learning).
Oversee functional area Architect Workshops and Client Confirmation Sessions, ensuring efficient and accurate design and configuration of the delivered solution.
Act as a sounding board and provide ad-hoc advice for EM and leads and serve as an advocate and escalation point for the EM and functional team and ensure issues are being addressed.
Help team to understand and adhere to our Cynergy methodology to deliver Workday implementations and provide feedback to appropriate parties internally to support continuous enhancement of our tools and process, which includes driving team members to keep these tools current.
Mentor junior project resources by providing guidance allowing them to learn new skills and functional areas, lead client sessions, and configure the solution.
Ensures cohesive structures and project communications are in place for cross functional delivery between their area and the following areas: Absence, Time Tracking, HCM, Payroll, Integrations, Financials, Organizational Change & Training, Data Conversion, and Reporting.
Duties & Tasks:
Attend regular Workday KSS calls for product areas.
Partner with Engagement Manager (EM) and Portfolio Director (PD) to drive team and individuals to achieve high client satisfaction levels and provide feedback to managers to facilitate practice growth and development for project team members.
Ensure that issues and risks are being discussed openly with the appropriate people.
Conduct internal QA process.
Support the sales team by:
Assisting Solution Architects with estimating projects, as necessary.
Participating in Sales Orals meetings for proposed assignments.
Assisting with or reviewing estimates for Change Orders in functional areas.
Participating in discussions regarding functional areas that may come into scope for project or client.
Education and Experience Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent.
Current Workday Certification and certified in at least two subspecialities in addition to their area. Must be able to lead in each of these areas. For example, HCM subspecialties must include one of following: Core Compensation, Benefits, or Recruiting.
Completed minimum 3-5 full lifecycle Workday Implementations (for both large scale Your Way implementations and regional Launch implementations).
Led at least 2-3 Workday implementations on multiple HCM functional areas.
