About Climate and Land Use Alliance
We are a collaborative of foundations seeking to realize the potential of forests and land use to mitigate climate change, benefit people, and protect the environment. Our alliance brings together resources and diverse expertise to support viable solutions and mobilize greater funding to conserve and restore forests and more sustainably use land—for the benefit of people and the planet. We work to halt and reverse forest loss, advance sustainable land use and development, and secure the rights and livelihoods of Indigenous and forest communities.
Our member foundations include the ClimateWorks Foundation, the David and Lucile Packard Foundation, the Ford Foundation, the Gordon and Betty Moore Foundation, and the Good Energies Foundation. Margaret A. Cargill Philanthropies also aligns its grantmaking with our strategy. We focus on tropical forest regions with significant potential for addressing the climate crisis and preserving cultural and biological diversity, including Brazil, Indonesia, Mexico, Central America, Colombia, and Peru. We also pursue a global agenda of promoting policies, programs, and finance in favor of sustainable land use.
We believe that forests and sustainable land use are essential parts of the global response to climate change. By working together, we aim to amplify the power of people and the potential of forests for a just and climate-resilient world. We support civil society organizations, Indigenous Peoples, and local communities who are on the frontlines of protecting our planet's most vital ecosystems.
