View company profile

CleanChoice Energy is a climate-tech company dedicated to making clean, renewable energy accessible to everyone. Founded in 2012, the company operates with a clear mission to combat catastrophic climate change by transitioning as many American homes and businesses as possible to 100% pollution-free energy. The company was established by Tom Matzzie, who, having grown up in an industrial area of Pennsylvania, witnessed firsthand the detrimental health and environmental impacts of coal-powered energy. This experience fueled his desire to simplify the process for consumers to choose clean energy, a stark contrast to his own difficult experience installing solar panels on his home. CleanChoice Energy's model allows customers to switch their energy supplier without needing to install any equipment, such as solar panels, or make any upfront investments. The company ensures that for every kilowatt-hour of electricity a customer uses, an equivalent amount from 100% renewable sources, primarily regional wind and solar farms, is added to the national grid.

Operating as a licensed energy supplier, CleanChoice Energy has become one of the fastest-growing businesses in the United States, recognized on the Inc. 5000 and Deloitte's Technology Fast 500 lists. The company's innovative approach combines data-empowered technology with a commitment to environmental and social responsibility. As a certified B Corporation, CleanChoice Energy adheres to high standards of performance, accountability, and transparency. Beyond simply supplying clean energy, the company is also a direct developer and owner of solar farm projects, creating a 'farm-to-table' energy model that connects communities more directly with locally-generated solar power. This vertical integration allows for greater control over the energy source and reinforces their commitment to expanding the renewable energy infrastructure. Their product offerings include clean electricity plans, community solar subscriptions, and carbon offsets, providing multiple avenues for individuals and businesses to reduce their carbon footprint and support a sustainable future.
