How You Will Contribute:
- Analyze customer networks, identify solutions, and plan integration/conversion requirements to meet customer needs.
- Implement upgrades to customer in-service networks without service disruption, including channel additions, node insertions, traffic migrations, and hardware/software upgrades.
- Create and own Engineering Method of Procedures (EMOP) and support field execution remotely for modernization projects.
- Plan, develop, and execute customer network modernization plans through the EMOP process.
- Ensure solutions are technically viable, meet customer requirements, and maximize benefit to Ciena.
- Deliver and manage network engineering documentation for customers via the Detailed Network Design service offering.
The Must Haves:
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or equivalent experience.
- Proficiency in Ciena products, particularly 6500, RLS, and Waveserver.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills with excellent presentation and customer service abilities.
- Extensive technical expertise in optical networking with hands-on experience.
- Systems-level understanding with the ability to learn and apply new concepts and technologies quickly.
- Proven ability to work effectively within a high-performance team.
- Flexible and capable of handling multiple tasks with minimal supervision.
- Expertise in problem-solving down to the design level and translating solutions back to engineering for resolution.

Pay Range:
The annual pay range for this position is $96,900 - $154,700.
Pay ranges at Ciena are designed to accommodate variations in knowledge, skills, experience, market conditions, and locations, reflecting our diverse products, industries, and lines of business. Please note that the pay range information provided in this posting pertains specifically to the primary location, which is the top location listed in case multiple locations are available.
Non-Sales employees may be eligible for a discretionary incentive bonus, while Sales employees may be eligible for a sales commission.
