Consultant, Carrier Managed Service (CMS) Business Development

How You Will Contribute:

  • Develop and launch innovative services with service provider collaborators, driving growth and operational success.

  • Achieve target partner orders and year-over-year growth by leveraging strategic insights and consultancy approaches.

  • Lead thought leadership initiatives to identify market opportunities, quantify potential, and assess competitive landscapes.

  • Deliver strategic consulting, including business case development, to create and evolve Ciena-powered Carrier Managed Services.

  • Conduct feasibility studies and develop ROI-driven business cases to justify investments.

  • Build and maintain strong relationships with senior sales and marketing executives, fostering collaboration and mutual success.

  • Prioritize resources and investments to align with short-term and long-term sales strategies.

The Must Haves:

  • 8+ years of experience in telecommunications, including sales, channel sales, business development, product management, or consulting.

  • Expertise in the telecommunications ecosystem, encompassing global carriers, Tier 1/Tier 2 operators, MSOs, and cloud providers.

  • Knowledge of product development lifecycles for service providers, from conceptualization to market launch.

  • Experience in channel programs, policies, and management.

  • Proven ability in consultative sales, strategic planning, and relationship management.

  • Exceptional communication skills and proficiency in financial modeling for business case development.

  • Strong collaboration skills to align internal and external teams toward shared objectives.

Nice to Haves:

  • MBA or equivalent leadership experience.

  • Certifications in optical transport (L1), Carrier Ethernet (L2), IP (L3), Software Defined Networking, or Network Function Virtualization.

  • Project management certifications.

  • Familiarity with managed services strategies and organizational transformations.

  • Experience in sales enablement and training strategies.

  • Emotional intelligence and active listening skills for effective stakeholder engagement.

  • Proactive and results-oriented mindset with a commitment to customer-centricity
