The SRE is responsible for ensuring the reliability, performance, and security of SCT’s infrastructure across development, test, and production environments. This role focuses on maintaining and improving Windows and Linux-based systems, virtual infrastructure, and associated storage and messaging platforms through automation, monitoring, and engineering best practices.
The position requires close collaboration with application teams, infrastructure teams, and DevOps resources to deliver scalable, resilient systems while minimizing operational toil.
Responsibilities
- Configure and manage Windows, Linux, virtualization platforms, and infrastructure services.
- Prepare environments for application deployments and validate infrastructure readiness.
- Monitor infrastructure health using tools such as LogicMonitor and Splunk.
- Proactively detect and resolve issues with a root cause analysis approach.
- Optimize system performance, availability, and resilience.
- Develop and maintain automation scripts (PowerShell, Python, Bash) to reduce manual tasks.
- Drive adoption of Infrastructure-as-Code and CI/CD integration.
- Apply security best practices: patching, access control, and configuration compliance.
- Participate in ITGC, SOX, and internal audits.
- Coordinate infrastructure changes with application teams, following change control and testing standards.
- Document runbooks, procedures, and technical support materials.
- Identify continuous improvement opportunities to reduce alert noise, improve recovery time, and support scalability.
- Share knowledge across the team to ensure 24/7 support coverage and avoid single points of failure.
Requirements
- Proven experience managing Windows and Linux systems.
- Knowledge of virtualization, storage, and messaging platforms.
- Experience with monitoring tools (LogicMonitor, Splunk, or similar).
- Strong scripting and automation skills (PowerShell, Python, Bash).
- Familiarity with Infrastructure-as-Code and CI/CD practices.
- Understanding of security best practices, patch management, and access controls.
- Experience supporting compliance and audit processes (ITGC, SOX).
- Ability to coordinate deployments and changes across test and production environments.
- Excellent communication, teamwork, and problem-solving skills.
- Proactive mindset with focus on continuous improvement, reliability, and modernization.
