About Chimes

Chimes is a not-for-profit organization that assists people with intellectual and behavioral challenges to achieve their fullest potential. Founded in 1947, Chimes has grown from a small special education day school serving five students in a Baltimore church basement into a comprehensive network of services supporting more than 20,000 children, adolescents, and adults annually across six U.S. states, the District of Columbia, and Israel.

The organization delivers a vast array of services through national and international affiliates, including educational programs, employment opportunities, vocational training, residential support, habilitative services, and behavioral health care. Chimes operates through three primary service components: Behavioral Health services for mental health and substance use disorders; Employment Services making it one of the nation's largest employers of people with disabilities; and Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities support spanning from toddler to senior services. With over 3,500 employees across 29+ employment sites, Chimes fosters a compassionate and inclusive community where individuals of differing abilities receive personalized care, innovative solutions, and pathways to independence.
