A Purchasing Agent is responsible for managing the procurement of goods and services necessary for shipboard operations, sourcing and negotiating with suppliers, and addressing out-of-stock items through research and alternative sourcing.
Requirements
- Review confirmations from vendors and source out-of-stock items from other vendors by researching and identifying supply options and/or substitutions
- Negotiate terms and conditions with suppliers to ensure competitive pricing favorable contract contract terms
- Coordinate with the logistics team to manage the timely delivery of goods to shipboard locations
- Maintain accurate records of purchases, pricing, and other relevant data in procurement systems.
- Monitor inventory levels and forecast demand to ensure uninterrupted supply of essential goods
- Collaborate with shoreside and shipboard teams to address procurement-related issues and challenges.
- Evaluate supplier performance and conduct periodic reviews to ensure compliance with company standards
- Participate in cost reduction initiatives and identify opportunities for process improvement.
