Job Summary:

The Director of the Carlisle Operating System (COS) is responsible for leading the development and implementation of Carlisle’s enterprise-wide continuous improvement strategy. This individual will collaborate with leaders across business units to ensure COS is effectively executed and sustained, driving long-term value for the organization. The role requires extensive travel (up to 80%) and reports directly to senior leadership. This is a highly visible, strategic position with anywhere from 1 to 5 direct reports and significant influence over talent development and organizational performance. The expected hours of work are standard business hours, with flexibility to support operational needs across locations.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Lead the continued development and deployment of COS across all Carlisle business units through the annual assessment process.
  • Oversee and support the Policy Deployment process at the corporate and business unit level to ensure alignment of goals.
  • Develop and manage standard metrics to evaluate performance and continuous improvement progress.
  • Partner with HR and business leaders to structure and staff the COS office with the right talent and capability.
  • Champion COS across the organization, including collaboration with Division COS leaders.
  • Act as the main liaison for LeanSigma® and other external CI consulting relationships.
  • Assess and contribute to operational due diligence for mergers and acquisitions, including Lean readiness.
  • Support and guide site steering teams in COS implementation and change management.
  • Train, coach, and mentor site leadership in Lean tools and cultural transformation.
  • Contribute to the development of COS training materials and best practice documentation.
  • Promote data-driven decision-making and facilitate knowledge sharing across sites and divisions.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Required Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:

  • Expert understanding of Lean, Six Sigma, and continuous improvement tools and principles.
  • Strong leadership and coaching ability across all organizational levels.
  • Strategic thinking and ability to drive transformation in a complex, matrixed environment.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, including influencing without authority.
  • High level of business acumen and understanding of financial impacts of Lean initiatives.
  • Ability to assess organizational gaps and develop targeted intervention plans.
  • Comfortable with extensive travel and operating in dynamic, cross-functional settings.

Education and Experience:

  • Required:
    • Bachelor’s degree in Operations Management, Engineering, Business, or related field.
    • 5+ years of plant operations or general management experience in a Lean organization.
    • LeanSigma® or Six Sigma Black Belt certification.
    • Demonstrated success in leading Lean transformation across multiple sites.
    • Experience in designing and leading policy deployment processes.
  • Preferred:
    • Experience guiding organizational change and talent development across divisions.
    • Strong financial judgment and familiarity with operational performance metrics.

Working Conditions:

  • Work is primarily remote with extensive travel (up to 80%) to Carlisle and Kimberton, PA, as well as other domestic sites.
  • May involve work within office environments, manufacturing sites, and construction areas.
  • Standard business hours with flexibility as needed to support operations across time zones.
  • Frequent use of computer systems, participation in virtual and in-person meetings, and on-site coaching engagements.
