Job Overview:

The Product Director is a key stakeholder in operationalizing new assessments, products, and services for the K-12 education technology market. This person will draw on their deep experience in large-scale assessment to operationalize new approaches to assessment with CAI states. This is both a strategic and tactical hands-on role.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Work with CAI’s Senior Leadership Team and key internal stakeholders (Program Management, Test Development, Psychometrics, Engineering, and Reporting) to gain consensus on test design, schedule, and reporting features for new assessments and assessment approaches.

  • Gather and leverage both qualitative and quantitative competitive market data to inform product outcomes.

  • Facilitate discussions with senior cross-functional leaders, Program Management teams, and state clients to reach agreement on critical decision points.

  • Develop a roadmap for operationalizing new assessments and implementing Principled Assessment Design across organization.

  • Create sound, strategic, data-driven business cases to support roadmap recommendations.

  • Build alignment on scope and delivery of product vision and solution designs with counterparts in engineering, QA, communications, program management and other relevant teams.

  • Manage field tests, product pilots, and subsequent operational roll out for new tests and products.

  • Demonstrate budget adherence and influence a culture of budget adherence cross-functionally; assist in creating and tracking project-level budgets.

  • Hold feedback and information sharing sessions with key stakeholder groups inside and outside the company.

  • Maintain dedicated knowledge of the evolving ed-tech landscape, identifying emerging trends, technologies, and potential partnerships that can enhance our product offerings and integration capabilities.

Job Requirements:

  • Master’s Degree or higher in relevant field preferred, Bachelor's degree required.

  • 8+ years of relevant work experience (i.e., in district ed-tech space, large-scale assessment, product management).

  • 8+ years of direct experience working with districts, schools and / or teachers implementing digital curriculum solutions, dashboard solutions, or assessment solutions.

  • Demonstrated leadership of cross-functional initiatives, with a focus on moving functional teams forward to on-time implementation.

  • Exceptional communication skills, capable of conveying complex technical concepts and strategies to a diverse audience, including non-technical stakeholders.

  • Strategic, data-driven critical thinker.

  • Solid quantitative data analysis skills.

  • Experience related to K-2 early literacy assessments, Principled Assessment Design, and AI-driven assessment innovations preferred.
