Position Summary

The Patient Safety Solutions Engineer is a key interdisciplinary role responsible for developing, deploying, and maintaining software solutions that enhance Patient Safety within BMS. This role bridges the gap between centralized IT, Business Operations and patient safety teams to enhance the deployment, monitoring, and management of patient safety software solutions. This individual will leverage a combination of software engineering skills, DevOps practices, and an understanding of patient safety requirements to create and support applications that meet the specific needs of the different teams withing Patient Safety. The role requires a proactive approach to developing innovative solutions, problem solving through technology, automating deployment processes, and ensuring the highest standards of reliability and security within the operational systems.

Key Responsibilities

  • Solution Development: Design and develop software applications that address key patient safety challenges, ensuring the solutions are user-friendly, efficient, and scalable.
  • CI/CD Pipeline Management: Implement and manage Continuous Integration/Continuous Delivery (CI/CD) pipelines to automate the testing, deployment, and delivery of patient safety applications.
  • Leverage and manage infrastructure resources: Provision and configure the needed infrastructure, ensuring optimal use of availability while maintaining system scalability and reliability. This role requires a flexible approach to infrastructure management, aligning with the organization's resource availability and the specific requirements of patient safety solutions.
  • Monitoring and Reliability: Set up and maintain monitoring systems to capturing value generation and ensuring high availability and performance of patient safety applications. Respond to and resolve operational incidents swiftly with clear communication systems to the business teams on incidents status and progress
  • Security and Compliance: Ensure that all patient safety solutions adhere to relevant data protection and privacy laws, implementing security best practices throughout the application lifecycle.
  • Continuous Improvement: Regularly evaluate and update patient safety applications and processes for improvement, incorporating feedback from healthcare professionals and patients to enhance solution effectiveness.
  • Collaboration: working with the business teams and IT

Qualifications & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related field. A background in healthcare informatics or a related healthcare field is highly desirable.
  • Proven experience in software development, with proficiency in multiple programming languages such as Python, Java, or JavaScript.
  • Experience with DevOps tools and practices.
  • Knowledge of cloud services (AWS, Azure, GCP) and experience managing scalable cloud-based environments.
  • Familiarity with monitoring tools, visualization tools and log management systems
  • Understanding of healthcare data standards and compliance requirements is preferred.
  • Strong problem-solving skills, with the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Excellent communication skills, capable of working closely with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
