Boost IT is seeking a highly skilled Datacenter Subject Matter Expert (SME) with a strong focus on VMware virtualization technologies. The ideal candidate will possess deep technical expertise across datacenter infrastructure, including virtualization,
server hardware, storage, backup solutions, and operating systems.
This role will be responsible for ensuring optimal design, implementation, and
support of our virtualized environments, as well as contributing to documentation and architectural design for critical infrastructure projects.
Tasks
- Document datacenter infrastructure, configurations, change control, and design
decisions.
- Contribute to architecture and strategy discussions for datacenter migration.
- Design, implement, and manage virtualized infrastructure across multiple
datacenters. - Work closely with hardware vendors and internal teams for server lifecycle
management (rack, stack, configure). - Design and support enterprise-grade backup and disaster recovery solutions
(Commvault, Metallic, etc.). - Collaborate with the storage team on SAN/NAS configurations and performance tuning (e.g., NetApp, Dell EMC, HPE).
- Participate in capacity planning, performance monitoring, and infrastructure
optimization efforts. - Support compliance, patching, and security standards across the datacenter
infrastructure. - Act as escalation point for critical infrastructure issues and lead RCA for
incidents.
Requirements
- Experience creating and maintaining technical documentation, HLDs/LLDs, runbooks, and SOPs.
- 5+ years of experience in datacenter infrastructure with a strong emphasis on
VMware technologies. - Deep understanding of VMware vSphere, vCenter, ESXi, vMotion, DRS, HA, and SRM.
- Experience with enterprise hardware platforms (Cisco UCS, Dell, Juniper).
- Solid knowledge of backup technologies (Veeam, Commvault, etc.) and disaster
recovery strategies. - Proficient in enterprise storage systems (SAN/NAS), protocols (iSCSI, FC, NFS), and management tools.
- Strong background in Windows Server OS and basic Linux (RedHat, CentOS, Ubuntu) administration.
- Familiarity with datacenter standards, power/cooling concepts, and rack layout best practices.
- Excellent troubleshooting, communication, and stakeholder engagement skills.
