This is a full-time, one-year fellowship with potential to convert to a permanent position. The Fellow will draft memos, design research instruments, and develop policy frameworks that help Democrats meet this cultural moment with informed, effective messaging and strategy on AI.

Reporting to the Director of External Affairs, this Fellow will serve as BRR's in-house expert on AI policy and politics, working closely with our data scientists, researchers, and client-facing teams to integrate AI expertise into our suite of products and services.

What You'll Do

Policy Research & Analysis

  • Track and analyze AI policy developments at federal, state, and international levels, including legislation, regulation, executive actions, and emerging debates
  • Develop policy briefs and strategic recommendations on AI regulation, safety, competition, privacy, and related issues
  • Monitor AI's impact on jobs, the economy, and society, and advise on how Democrats should respond to these shifts
  • Research and analyze strategies for combating AI-generated misinformation in elections

Messaging & Communications Strategy

  • Design survey research and message testing to evaluate how voters think about AI and understand public opinion on AI-related issues
  • Utilize Blue Rose’s research, draft messaging guides, talking points, and strategic communications frameworks to help Democratic stakeholders
  • Translate complex technical and policy concepts into clear, compelling language for political audiences

Stakeholder Engagement & Thought Leadership

  • Support BRR's leadership team in client presentations and stakeholder briefings on AI-related topics
  • Represent Blue Rose Research as a subject matter expert on AI and politics at conferences, events, and convenings

  • Provide input on how BRR can leverage our existing message testing infrastructure to better serve clients on AI-related questions
  • Identify opportunities to expand BRR's offerings in the AI and tech policy space

About You

  • Deep knowledge of technology policy, particularly AI regulation, safety, ethics, competition, and governance
  • 2-5 years of professional experience in tech policy, political campaigns, government, advocacy organizations, or related fields
  • Background or familiarity with survey research, message testing, and/or polling methodology
  • Strong understanding of the Democratic political ecosystem and current political dynamics
  • Exceptional writer and communicator who can translate technical concepts for non-technical political audiences
  • Comfortable presenting complex research to senior elected officials, campaign staff, and organizational leadership
  • Self-starter who can proactively identify emerging issues and opportunities without constant direction
  • Passionate about progressive politics and using research to help Democrats win elections and advance good policy
  • Collaborative team player who works well across disciplines—comfortable coordinating with data scientists, researchers, and political strategists

Bonus Points:

  • Technical knowledge of AI and machine learning systems
  • Experience working on political campaigns, on Capitol Hill, or with Democratic elected officials
  • Experience working at a polling, analytics, or data firm
  • Existing relationships within the Democratic policy and political communities
