Hi! We're Bee Talents, an IT recruitment agency that has been helping clients from all around the world in building their technical teams since 2015. Today, we would like to invite you to participate in the recruitment process for Alfreð.
Alfreð, Iceland’s own portal for job-seekers and employers alike, is the largest platform of its kind in the Icelandic employment market. Established in 2013 and with 20 people onboard, Alfreð quickly became one of the most popular labor-centric solutions in a market that - until then - had a limited online presence. Their portal and its corresponding app serve as a link between employers and prospective employees by matching new opportunities with the skills of a particular user, making the job hunt efficient and simple for the persons involved.
We’re looking for an experienced and dedicated Senior Backend (Java/Kotlin) Engineer with a great understanding of microservices architecture.

What Alfreð can offer you:

💰 Salary: 26k-28k net on B2B (0% VAT)
⏱ Working hours: flexible (typically between 8:00 and 18:00)
✅ 30 days of paid vacation
📍 Office location(s): (none in Poland) Reykjavík, Iceland and Prague, Czech Republik and others
👩‍💻 Working mode: fully remote in Poland (or hybrid in Iceland or in Czech Republic) in a small development team
💻 Equipment: you can buy your own (preferably Macbook) and Alfreð will reimburse it (FV 0% VAT) or they can send you theirs
🇬🇧 Speaking language: English as we international working environment
🛠️ Techstack/Skills/Methodology: Java, Kotlin, Spring, Spring Boot, Hibernate, MySQL, Google Cloud Platform, Microservices, TDD + DevOps, Docker, Kubernetes, Github i Scrum. PS From the front-end side (not needed here) - React.js, TypeScript & Next.js.

Your tasks from the "0" day will be i. e.:

  • familiarizing with processes, code and architecture,
  • responsibilityfor the Alfreð brand products, which includes both creating new features and maintaining the existing ones,
  • improving existing solutions in order to make them more scalable,
  • testing and focusing on the quality code,
  • configuring and monitoring deployments and suggesting and implementing improvements to the setup.

What we expect from you:

  • min. 5 years of commercial experience as a Back-End engineer, in which 3 years in Java/Kotlin,
  • proven track record in designing IaaC services and systems that involve multiple microservices,
  • experience in implementing and suggesting new solutions in the field of architecture,
  • experience in building cloud products (it doesn't matter which one; Alfreð uses GCP) and testing (Alfreð loves Test Driven Development!),
  • experience with relational and non-relational databases (MySQL, Firebase etc.),
  • experience with distributed systems,
  • experience with Kubernetes is preferred,
  • min. Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or Software Engineering.
