Members of the Deposit Servicing Representative team support the Retail Banking Branches, Direct Banking Center and BankNewport customers by performing Production and Quality & Control functions.

Responsibilities

Performs any functions necessary, within scope of authority and expertise, to provide the highest level of service and responsiveness to customers.

Fully supports the Bank’s “Set your Sales” initiative. Utilize support staff training to consistently provide sales support to all departments. Understand the departments support metrics and continue to improve bank efficiencies.

  • Assists with the maintenance of customer information files (CIF)
  • Refers more complex accounts to specialist for CIF review
  • Verifies new account documentation (Demand Deposit & Time Deposit)
  • Verifies account change and renewal documentation (Demand Deposit & Time Deposit)
  • Verifies account maintenance documents and reports
  • Ensures proper documentation of missing tax identification numbers
  • Verifies and/or reviews various operational and production reports
  • Assists with the processing of end of year tax documents
  • Reporting escheatable funds and/or property to the State of RI in accordance with RI regulation
  • Properly handles returned mail including statements, checks, and debit cards
  • Responds to load errors and rejected items by required deadline
  • Processes checks returned from the Federal Reserve Bank within established timeframes
  • Reviews stop payments for accuracy
  • Reviews items presented against dormant accounts to ensure they are authorized
  • Prepares correspondence to customers with dormant accounts in order to maintain proper oversight of transaction activity
  • Responds to stop payment items in Insight
  • Prepares and prints reports for various areas within the bank
  • Ensures proper IOLTA accounts interest is remitted to the RI Bar Association
  • Assists with research requests, legal directive and subpoenas
  • Completes verifications of deposit
  • Performs daily branch image capture balancing and related item processing
  • Remits foreign checks for payment
  • Reviews International ACH Payments daily for SDN matching
  • Reviews and approves items processed via the Bank’s mobile remote deposit capture system
  • Performs necessary adjustments received through FedLine and Eastern Bank
  • Scans and indexes documents
  • Files documents retained in paper format
  • Verifies that all miscellaneous documents are scanned and enters any missing data
  • Assists with ad hoc projects as directed by the Deposit Servicing Supervisor and department specialists
  • SUPERVISORY SCOPE:

    No supervisory responsibility

    INDEPENDENT ACTION:

    Performs work independently, within established guidelines and practices. Consults with manager regarding policy interpretation or exceptions.

    Qualifications

    • High school diploma or equivalent.
    • Consistently demonstrating all department core competencies.
    • Ability to work using MS Office basic applications – Word, Excel.
    • Ability to learn each of the assigned tasks.
    • Attends at least one training class or program annually in addition to completing all required compliance training.
    • Attendance in office during normal business hours (at minimum) may be required in order to effectively coordinate with multiple departments, projects and outside entities.
