Summary:
Reporting to the Sales Director, the Account Manager provides a consultative sales approach to build and maintain relationships with key individuals within the asphalt industry (contractors, asphalt emulsion producers, government agencies, roofing manufacturers, consulting engineers, and other current and potential clients). You will help to ensure the success of our customers by staying close to them, knowing their business and being a trusted advisor.

Responsibilities:

  • Act as the primary liaison between customers and the company and to the asphalt industry in the Mid_Atlantic Region (VA, MD, NC, SC, TN, KY).
  • Provide consultation and product recommendations to contractors, asphalt terminals, asphalt emulsion producers, state and local public works departments and engineering firms engaged in new pavement and parking lot construction, pavement maintenance and preservation, pavement recycling and rehabilitation projects.
  • Implement strategies that result in profitable growth for our products and services and represent the greatest value to our customers.
  • Actively participate in local, state and national events to promote Arkema products.
  • Manage product mix in the territory to ensure product availability and company profitability, while ensuring customers have the best technology to meet their needs.
  • Perform ongoing market analysis and explore product development opportunities. Quantify expected revenue results, monitor progress, change or modify strategies to maximize results.
  • Work with multi-functional teams on new product development, field testing and commercialization.
  • Complete administrative duties such as forecasting, sales reports, strategic planning, business reviews, business expense reports in timely manner.

Context & Environment:

  • Exposure to risks associated with asphalt plant and jobsite visits.
  • Travel up to 75% of the time.
  • Majority of travel will require departure from a major airport.
  • Candidate must have the ability to work remotely from a home office with internet access.
  • Ability to work flexible hours, based on customer demands, required.

Skills & Abilities:

  • Ability to think like an owner, with sound judgment and decision-making skills.
  • The ability to build and maintain effective relationships with all levels of any organization.
  • Excellent communication skills and effective public speaking skills, with the ability to connect and communicate with audiences of varying technical and educational levels.
  • Technical aptitude including the ability to understand and explain products and their applications.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree, required. (Preferably in Business, Marketing or Engineering.) Will consider 7+ years of experience in lieu of college degree.
  • Experience selling solutions to the heavy Civil Engineering/Construction community, is preferred.
  • 3+ years of successful technical/consultative selling experience, required.
  • Experience within Asphalt, Construction, Aggregate or Concrete industry, preferred.
  • Experience consulting with government agencies and pavement engineers, preferred.
