Our client, a major industrial player in Cameroon, is seeking a highly autonomous and professional Public Relations Officer to manage its institutional presence in Yaoundé. This role is a remote-based position requiring high levels of diplomacy and strategic communication.

Role Purpose

Reporting directly to the CEO, the Public Relations Officer is responsible for the operational implementation of external communication activities, with a primary focus on managing relationships with government institutions, ministries, and regulatory authorities based in Yaoundé.

Key Responsibilities

  • Institutional Relations: Ensure the operational follow-up of relationships with administrations and regulatory bodies.
  • Communication Materials: Prepare official correspondence, briefing notes, presentations, and institutional communication supports.
  • Event Coordination: Support the organization of official visits, meetings, and institutional events.
  • Media & Community Relations: Assist in media relations management and participate in community engagement activities in coordination with site teams.
  • Monitoring: Conduct media and institutional monitoring to report relevant information to management.
  • Crisis Support: Provide support in preparing materials for sensitive or crisis communication.

Requirements

  • Education: Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Communication, Public Relations, Journalism, Political Science, or a related field.
  • Experience: Minimum of 8 years of experience in public relations or communication. Experience in an industrial or project-based environment and interacting with public administrations is highly desirable.
  • Language Skills:Perfect fluency in both English and French (written and spoken) is mandatory.
  • Technical Skills: Strong mastery of communication tools, digital/office tools, and excellent administrative writing skills.

  • Exceptional sense of diplomacy and respect for protocols.
  • High level of autonomy and personal organization to thrive in a remote work setup.
  • Discretion, confidentiality, and ability to manage sensitive situations under pressure.

Working Conditions

  • Location: Yaoundé (Remote work/Telecommuting).
  • Office: No permanent office in Yaoundé; requires strong self-discipline.
  • Travel: Occasional missions to Douala (Head Office) and site missions (Adamaoua region) as required.
