Job Description Summary:
We are seeking a skilled and experienced Product Manager (Contractor) to join our Product Development team for a five-month contract. In this role, you will drive product strategy and delivery for backend systems focused on authentication and interoperability.
As a Product Manager, you will play a critical role in the development and implementation of secure, compliant, and efficient backend solutions, ensuring seamless integration across our platform ecosystem. This role partners closely with engineering, compliance, and cross-functional stakeholders to deliver scalable solutions that support business and user needs.

Essential Responsibilities:
Product Strategy & Requirements
Define product requirements and user stories for authentication and interoperability features in collaboration with engineering and compliance teams.
Conduct stakeholder interviews and gather requirements to ensure solutions meet security, privacy, and regulatory compliance standards.
Translate business and technical requirements into clear product specifications for the backend development team.
Backend Product Development
Partner with backend engineers to prioritize and deliver authentication enhancements, API integrations, and automated data deletion capabilities.
Define acceptance criteria and success metrics for backend features and functionality.
Ensure product development delivers positive experiences for educators and students while aligning with technical architecture and security best practices.
Cross-System Integration
Drive interoperability initiatives to ensure seamless data flow and communication between internal systems and external platforms.
Collaborate with engineering teams to define API specifications and integration requirements.
Coordinate with technical teams to ensure system compatibility and data integrity.
Product Delivery & Stakeholder Management
Manage the product roadmap and sprint planning for backend development initiatives.
Facilitate communication between the backend development team and cross-functional stakeholders.
Track and report on product development progress, milestones, and key performance indicators.
Documentation & Communication
Create product documentation, including technical specifications, user acceptance criteria, and process flows.
Prepare regular status updates for leadership and stakeholders on product development progress.
Maintain product backlogs and ensure clear documentation of product decisions and rationale.
Required Qualifications:
5+ years of experience as a Product Manager, preferably supporting backend systems and/or within the education technology sector.
Strong technical acumen, including understanding of authentication systems, APIs, and data management practices.
Excellent stakeholder management and cross-functional collaboration skills.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with experience working in agile development environments.
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Business, or a related technical field.
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience with identity and access management (IAM) systems.
Experience partnering with backend engineering teams and supporting API development.
Experience in EdTech.
Compensation:
The hourly rate for this role is $85.
