Acentra is looking for a Leave Coordinator to join our growing team.
Job Summary:
The role of the Leave Coordinator is to administer and support employee-qualified leave of absence and time off programs such as paid time off, holiday, sick leave, short- and long-term disability, parental, military, jury duty, bereavement, workers compensation, ADA, paid care time off, FMLA, personal leave, applicable state leave, and any other employee leave.
Job Responsibilities:
- Process leaves of absence for all leave-related employee benefit programs.
- Advise employees on company policy, guidelines, and documentation requirements.
- Provide employees with leave of absence paperwork and ensure that it is completed correctly, recorded, and filed in a timely manner.
- Monitor and track absence status, documentation, and return to work dates.
- Partner with third-party administrator and internal payroll to ensure correct and timely leave payment, inclusive of benefit premium deductions.
- Partner with managers to develop modified work schedules or return-to-work accommodations related to leaves of absence and ADAs.
- Conduct themselves in a professional and empathetic manner to navigate employees’ sensitive situations while also abiding by company policy.
- Drafts and/or recommends revisions to Company leave policies to ensure compliance with applicable laws and regulations.
- May be involved in plan design and vendor selection and oversight.
- Maintains knowledge of all applicable leave and accommodation laws, including FMLA, ADA, and state and local laws.
- Assists with any additional benefit program needs (e.g., processing Tuition Reimbursement) and other duties as assigned.
Requirements
Required Qualifications/Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree.
- 3+ years of human resource experience or an equivalent combination of education and human resource experience.
- Strong organizational skills.
- Sound communication skills.
- Technically savvy with the ability to learn and navigate human resource software.
- Experience working with leaves of absence.
- Highly proficient in the Microsoft Office Suite.
Preferred Qualifications/Experience:
- Excellent negotiation and conflict resolution skills, with the ability to handle sensitive situations empathetically and maintain confidentiality.
- Ability to analyze complex leave cases, interpret laws and policies, and make informed decisions based on a comprehensive understanding of various leave programs.
- A solid understanding of employment law as it relates to leaves of absence, including up-to-date knowledge of any changes in legislation that could affect leave entitlements and obligations.
