Summarized Purpose:
We are presenting an outstanding opportunity to join Thermo Fisher Scientific as a Systems Analyst II. In this role, you will analyze business and user needs, document requirements, and build the functional specifications for systems and reports. You will formulate and define systems scope and objectives through research and fact-finding combined with an understanding of applicable business systems and industry requirements. This role is also well-suited for candidates with a clinical or nursing background who have a strong understanding of clinical workflows and an interest in systems analysis.
Education/Experience:
- Requires a 4-year degree in Computer Science, Nursing, Health Informatics, or a related field
 - Experience of 3-5 years in a healthcare, research, or software development context, including at least 3 years dedicated to requirement gathering or clinical systems; or an equivalent combination of education, clinical experience, and technical skills that provide the required knowledge, skills, and abilities
 
Major Job Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with clinical staff and business users to translate clinical workflows into functional system requirements
 - Collect and document requirements and develop specifications for large or moderately complex systems
 - Analyze intricate problems with requirements and compose effective solutions
 - Define the interaction of data with other systems/databases at PPD or client companies
 - Work with developers, QA testers, validation team members, and managers to develop and analyze necessary project documentation
 - Manage small-scale projects
 - Stay abreast of the latest developments in related technologies; share knowledge with team members
 - Train on new technologies and tools related to job duties
 
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Experience or familiarity with clinical trial workflows, EHR/CTMS systems, or healthcare technology preferred
 - Strong grasp of the system development life cycle and requirements methodology
 - Strong grasp of various types of requirements including Business, User, Functional, and non-Functional
 - Ability to write specifications for moderately complex systems
 - Proficient in MS Office
 - Ability to estimate the level of effort for small to medium-sized projects
 - Capability to guide junior Business System Analyst team members
 - Strong business skills, including documentation, presentation, interpersonal, and communication
 - Strong problem-solving and analytical skills
 - Strong planning and organizational skills
 - Background in clinical research, patient care, or systems analysis is beneficial
