VICTOR OTIENO

I am a cybersecurity-focused IT professional and part-time assistant lecturer with hands-on experience in incident detection, network engineering, and security operations. I blend academic instruction with practical, industry-grade security work to develop both systems and people.

At Telkom Kenya I work as a SOC Analyst handling incident triage, SIEM rule tuning, detection engineering, and automation support, using SIEM (Splunk), EDR, and Wireshark. I previously supported advanced Cisco routing and internetworking as a Network Support Engineer, maintaining LAN/WAN infrastructure and Active Directory administration.

As an educator at Jaramogi Oginga Odinga University of Science and Technology I teach pentesting, incident response, database systems, computer architecture and related topics, and I have delivered training for Microsoft and Nokia programs. I emphasize practical labs and hands-on demonstrations, and I have built secure network design labs using GNS3/PacketTracer.

I hold an MSc in Computer Science and IT (InfoSec focus) and a First Class BSc in Computer Science, and I maintain Fortinet and Cisco certifications in progress. I seek roles where I can apply detection engineering, network security, and teaching experience to strengthen organizational defenses and mentor technical teams.
