Hi! I’m Rashmi, an ex-dentist with over five years of content writing experience, following five years of dental practice. It took a maternity break to realise I’m better at fixing sentences than fixing teeth. And so, after much thought and planning (and a little help from my career savings), I took the leap and switched careers.

Before my transition, I did plenty of writing during the downtime between patient appointments. The writer in me would brainstorm catchy captions and ideas for the next article or blog while the dentist in me worked on fillings and cleanings. Was it a lot to juggle? Absolutely. But I soon realised I couldn’t thrive while trying to balance two boats at once!

Since then, I’ve had the privilege of writing for a diverse range of companies—big and small, well-funded and tight-budgeted. Currently, I’m working with a Dubai-based entrepreneur on her startup, a project I took on after my maternity leave (or, as I like to call it, a self-imposed break to juggle ideas and newborn care simultaneously). Diving back into writing was a refreshing contrast to sleepless nights and mothering duties.

I began my writing career with a very famous food blog channel in Kerala, later moved on to writing for a dental magazine (thankfully, my dental background ensured credibility!), and gradually picked up various projects. My breakthrough moment came in 2022 when I had the opportunity to work with Sirona, a leading Indian women’s hygiene brand. That was my “Oh my God!” moment. I even co-authored a cover story alongside a senior writer friend, which still feels surreal to this day.

All these opportunities came through referrals, and I’m deeply grateful to those who trusted me with their work. Now, I’m looking to expand my horizons with a remote position that aligns with my skills and passion for storytelling. I would never say I know a lot, because SEO is something I’m still figuring out. Im learning a little everyday. Just so that my client knows, I have no knowledge on technical writing, it’s just not my forte!
