Robert Macfarlane

Served as stage director for Handel’s Radamisto and co-creative director for More Guilty than the Poet. Provided recitative coaching and stage interpretation masterclasses for singers.

Provided voice teaching and consulting services to both amateur and professional voice users. Students included professional singers from the MDR Radio Chorus and The Australian Brandenburg Choir.

Performed operatic roles for renowned companies including Opera Australia and Opera National de Lyon. Engaged in concert performances with prestigious orchestras such as the Gewandhaus Orchestra.

Curated the Australian Bach Society’s 2018 & 2019 concert seasons and engaged musicians for performances. Managed a yearly budget of $40,000 and organized rehearsal and concert schedules.

Provided individual and group voice lessons, focusing on vocal technique and music interpretation across various genres. Established and directed the boys’ choir, fostering healthy singing and group musical skills.

Appeared in public masterclasses with famous German Tenor, Peter Schreier, as the only non-German participant chosen. This experience enhanced my vocal technique and interpretation skills.

Played the leading role of Tybalt in the mainstage production of Boris Blacher’s Romeo and Juliet. Was a member of a one-voice-per-part ensemble, receiving extensive vocal coachings and classes.

Activities and societies: Sang as soloist & chorister with MDR Choir under Howard Arman.

Finalist in the 2013 Lortzing Singing Competition. Appeared in the Hochschule’s production of Hasse’s Semiramide (Role: Ircano), which toured to Graz, Austria, receiving critical acclaim.

Grade: First Class Honours

Achieved a Distinction average for both performance and academic subjects. This comprehensive program provided a strong foundation in musical theory and practical performance.
