Oliver Vasilev

I'm a Senior Software Engineer with 7+ years of experience building production backend systems, distributed applications and cloud infrastructure, primarily with C#/.NET and Microsoft Azure.

My core strength is designing reliable, high-performance backend systems that handle large datasets, high request volumes and complex business workflows. I've worked extensively with ASP.NET Core, Azure SQL, Kubernetes, Redis, event-driven architectures, Azure Service Bus/Event Hubs, REST APIs and high-concurrency database systems.

A large part of my work involves solving problems that go beyond individual features: system architecture, performance bottlenecks, database optimization, observability, scalability, production incidents and safe deployments.

Over the last ~2 years I've also worked extensively with AI and LLM systems. I've built LLM gateways, RAG-based assistants, MCP/tool-calling integrations and multi-agent developer automation. My AI work includes routing between local and cloud models such as OpenAI, Azure OpenAI, Claude and AWS Bedrock, while implementing governance, usage tracking, security, observability and cost controls.

I enjoy environments where engineers have ownership of the systems they build and where architectural decisions are driven by simplicity, reliability and measurable performance.

I'm currently looking for a fully remote Senior Backend / Software Engineering role where I can contribute primarily in C#/.NET, distributed systems, Azure and backend architecture. AI/LLM infrastructure is a strong bonus, but it doesn't need to be the primary focus of the role.

I'm based in North Macedonia and looking for companies that can hire remotely from Europe/EMEA or worldwide through direct employment, EOR or B2B/contractor arrangements.
