Michalis Vasiliades
@michalisvasiliades
Senior scientist in heterogeneous catalysis, combining transient isotopic/operando techniques to advance sustainable energy and environmental solutions.
What I'm looking for
I’m a Senior Scientist in Heterogeneous Catalysis at the Department of Chemistry, University of Cyprus, where I oversee laboratory activity, supervise undergraduate and postgraduate (PhD) students, and build/maintain advanced transient gas-flow panels and equipment for catalytic research (MS, FTIR, UV-VIS, XRD, BET). My work focuses on catalytic, mechanistic and reaction modelling and simulation, with an emphasis on energy and environmental applications.
I also lead research in Volatolomics, developing biochar solutions from woody waste to enhance air quality and support bioeconomy growth, and pioneering sustainable manure application methods for improved resource use and environmental impact. Alongside my science work, I’ve authored EU-facing and high-impact funding proposals and have experience as a Research Lecturer on renewable energy and environmental citizenship, education, and citizen science.
