Meliat Abu-Idris
@meliatabu-idris
Community health outreach leader and medical student, driving advocacy, programs, and partnerships for public wellbeing.
What I'm looking for
I’m a medical student passionate about community health awareness, bringing initiative, organization, and clear communication to outreach work. As Executive Vice President and Head, Community Health Awareness Programs, I lead efforts that turn plans into measurable public impact.
In my recent role, I facilitated 9 medical outreaches with other faculties/organizations, reaching about 2000 participants. I also raised funds totaling 1,000,000N to support outreaches, wrote 30+ proposals to corporate accounts, and coordinated 10+ committees covering graphics, broadcasts, fundraising, and event planning and execution.
I’m driven by advocacy and accountability: I conducted 30+ online and offline advocacy efforts to reduce public health indicators in Ibadan and environs, and documented activities for presentation to the UIMSA Senate as required by the Constitution. I’ve also handled cold calling of potential sponsors to secure support for events.
Beyond my flagship leadership role, I’ve supported large teams and partnerships—co-leading medical outreach programs with NiMSA, including a team of 31 students providing transport, refreshments, and certificates, and enabling health education in local languages. I complement my leadership with strong tooling skills (Google Suite, Microsoft Office) and practical experience in record keeping and customer-focused support from a short cashier role.
