Mackenzie Vaughn
@mackenzievaughn
Earth science education student and tutor who helps learners improve grades and understanding.
What I'm looking for
I’m building my career at the intersection of science instruction and individualized learning support. As an S.P.E.D. Tutor, I consult with IEP, 504, and RTI-labeled students to help them raise performance—working toward goals like improving grades above a 60% baseline and above 70% using added vocabulary and targeted resources.
In my student teaching experience, I coordinated with 7+ students across physics, chemistry, and physical science techniques, preparing lesson models and classroom materials while focusing on improving diversity in instruction by 6%. I also identified disruptive behaviors and attended 8 classes on disruptive behaviors to strengthen how I support classroom success.
Beyond the classroom, I’ve developed strong responsibility and communication skills through roles like Floor Facilitator at Discovery Gateway Children’s Museum, where I sanitized exhibits, managed busy areas, and educated kids on positive exhibit play—holding activities twice a week. I bring that same hands-on, learner-centered approach to collaboration and service through my involvement with the Teaching Education Society and Geology Society.
