Lazar Thomas

I’m a graduate student at West University of Timișoara, passionate about cloud computing, machine learning, social robotics, and quantum communication networks. I enjoy turning research ideas into dependable systems, built and deployed exclusively on Linux.

In my current role as a System Administrator at West University of Timișoara, I create and manage virtual machines, oversee VM lifecycle management, and troubleshoot both hardware and software issues for end-users. I also collaborate with IT teams to optimize system performance and streamline operational workflows.

As a software developer in AI-based robotics, I design and implement robotics applications to meet project objectives and improve SLAM performance for embedded hardware constraints. I’ve also supported technical documentation and carried out hands-on maintenance and hardware upgrades to keep systems reliable.

Through my work with RonaQCI—West University of Timisoara, I evaluate and analyze quantum communication networks to identify optimization opportunities, and I build applications using OpenQKD protocols for secure quantum key distribution. My projects and publications span cloud-based LLM architectures, hybrid microservices for smart glasses, ROS-based robotics pipelines, and benchmarking for LLM deployment in resource-constrained environments.
