Kawa Maria

I’m an AI/ML Engineer and an Artificial Intelligence & Machine Learning student with a strong foundation in data science, machine learning algorithms, and neural networks. I focus on building and evaluating models that deliver measurable learning outcomes and practical value.

Through hands-on work, I’ve built and assessed models using Python, TensorFlow, PyTorch, and Scikit-learn. I also work across data analysis and visualization, applying my skills to exploratory data analysis and clearer decision-making.

I currently serve as the Country Leader for the African Women in AI (AWAI) initiative, representing Uganda in a pan-African effort to increase women’s participation in Artificial Intelligence. I coordinate with regional leaders to support standardized AI learning resources and foster partnerships for ethical, inclusive, and sustainable AI adoption.

I’m also involved with PyDATA Uganda, where I contribute to technical forums and collaborative learning sessions. My interests include computer vision, NLP, AI agent development, model fine tuning, and sharing insights on machine learning workflows and emerging AI tools.
