Juan Pablo Rincon Ochoa
@juanpablorinconochoa
Electrical & electronic engineer shaping power systems and automation through simulation and data-driven optimization.
What I'm looking for
I’m an Electrical and Electronic Engineer from Universidad de los Andes (top graduate in Electrical Engineering for the 2024-02 cohort) and I’m completing my M.Sc. in Electrical Engineering (degree pending in 2026). My work focuses on energy and power-system engineering, including my thesis on deferred cost and optimization models for electrical transmission expansion through behind-the-meter energy communities.
In practice, I’ve applied operational process automation and power-system analysis through a role as an Engineering Intern at ISA Intercolombia, where I built an Excel VBA automation to integrate SAP and SIO and developed an application to automate work plan entry into SAP by identifying equipment and related operational elements. I’m also a Graduate Teaching Assistant supporting undergraduate engineering labs, while contributing research on photovoltaic systems, instrumentation/sensor characterization, and hardware-in-the-loop (HIL) real-time simulation—always aiming to turn technical insight into reliable, repeatable results.
Experience
Work history, roles, and key accomplishments
Graduate Teaching Assistant
Universidad de los Andes
Aug 2024 - Jun 2026 (1 year 10 months)
Provided pedagogical support in undergraduate engineering courses (Communications, Networks, Electronics Fundamentals, and Circuits) for cohorts of about 20 students while completing graduate studies. Led laboratory sessions, created course support materials, and delivered individualized student support to improve learning outcomes.
Engineering Intern
ISA Intercolombia
Jun 2023 - Jan 2024 (7 months)
Supported operational process automation initiatives and assisted scheduled maintenance for substations within Colombia’s national transmission system. Built an Excel VBA automation to integrate SAP and SIO for electrical outage records and developed an SAP work-plan entry automation to identify equipment and related elements.
