I engineer biomaterial platforms to study cardiac ageing and mechanobiology.
What I'm looking for
At the Mechanobiology Institute, NUS, I engineered stiffness-gradient hydrogels and patterned nano-biointerfaces to show how matrix mechanics program cardiac cell mechano-sensing independently of age.
I build experimental platforms spanning engineered tissue models, biomaterials, imaging, spatial genomics, mechanical characterization, and drug testing. I also commissioned a new lab, validated equipment, authored SOPs, trained researchers, and developed analysis pipelines in Python, R, and MATLAB.
My work also includes patient-specific 3D-printed liver and prostate phantoms for clinical training, graphene-based SPR biosensors for malaria detection, and paper-based aptasensors. I'm seeking postdoctoral work in ageing and mechano-matrix biology across the human healthspan.

Engineered stiffness-gradient hydrogels and nano-patterned bio-interfaces to study how matrix mechanics govern cardiac cell mechano-sensing independent of age. Integrated multimodal datasets including fluorescence imaging, spatial genomics, and mechanical characterization.
Research Scientist
3D Printing & Prototyping Laboratory, Duke-NUS
Aug 2025 - Dec 2025 (4 months)
Designed and fabricated patient-specific liver phantoms for clinical palpation training, iterating against surgeon feedback. Conceptualized plug-and-play phantom systems and prepared development timelines for clinical deployment.
MSc Research
University of Dundee
Mar 2019 - Mar 2020 (1 year)
Reconstructed prostate and peripheral anatomy from MRI/CT scans via image segmentation and fabricated synthetic tissue-mimicking phantoms for robotic surgery training. Validated phantoms against human prostate on weight, geometry, and stiffness via MRI and structured urologist testing.
Built carbon-nanotube aptasensors on paper-based microfluidic devices and gold-nanoparticle colorimetric sensors for small-molecule detection in adulterated milk samples. Cloned and expressed Candida virulence proteins as vaccine candidates and developed biofilm growth and inhibition assays.
Developed a graphene-based surface plasmon resonance biosensor for ultrasensitive malaria detection using variable-angle spectroscopic ellipsometry. Designed DNA-aptamer binding chemistry protocols and quantified binding by fluorescence microscopy.
