Innocent Umanah
@innocentumanah
Aspiring mechanical engineer intern applying mechanics and thermodynamics to real-world maintenance operations.
What I'm looking for
I’m a dedicated and detail-oriented mechanical engineering intern with a strong foundation in mechanics, thermodynamics, and material sciences. I’m highly motivated and organized, and I enjoy translating theoretical knowledge into practical results on active engineering sites.
In my current Operation/Maintenance Intern role at Port Harcourt Refining Company (NNPC), I identify, classify, and document industrial equipment used in refining processes—supporting accurate maintenance records, traceability, and preventive maintenance. I assist with day-to-day operations, conduct routine inspections, and troubleshoot mechanical/electrical systems under senior guidance while reinforcing compliance with SOPs, health & safety, and quality assurance.
Previously, as a Facilities Engineer Intern at Frontier Oil Limited, I supported design drawing interpretation (ISO, PGA, and P&ID), generated bill of materials (BOM), and assisted with material selection and identification. I also helped perform valve integrity testing and hydrotest/leak testing before commissioning, and contributed to equipment preservation and weather proofing prior to installation.
I’ve also worked on hands-on projects like cathodic protection installation across facility lowlines/pipelines, modifications of hook-up piping on the wellhead Christmas tree, and decommissioning/commissioning activities for an indirect heater. I bring problem-solving, documentation, and teamwork to every task, and I’m actively building industry readiness through short courses and professional membership (NIMECHE, ASME, JCI, and IAENG).
