Floyd Khoza

I am an LLB (Bachelor of Laws) graduate from the University of the Western Cape, class of 2024. In 2024, during my final year, I was working at the University's Law Clinic as an intern. My duties in the clinic included drafting legal documents under strict formatting and procedural requirements, managing case files, conducting legal research and and running client consultations.

I have a great deal of experience when it comes to writing and research. During my final year of studies I authored a research paper of over 10000 words on excessive sentencing for petty crimes, requiring sustained accademic writing, source evaluation, and argument structuring. I used footnote referencing througout to properly attribute sources and avoid plagiarism, reflecting strong citation discipline. This experience helped me gain skills such as extensive editing and proofreading of own long-form legal writing to tighen clarity, grammar and logical glow.

I am multilingual, I am fluent in several South African languages. I am fluent in English and proficient when it comes to writing or editing. IsiZulu and Xitsonga are my home languages. I am comprehensive in IsiXhosa and Sepedi. My multilinguism helped me with conducting client consultations across multiple South African languages, ensuring clear cross linguistic communication during my time at the University of the Western Cape Law Clinic.

I would say my relevant skills for AI training are the strong grasp of formal English grammar, structure, and register from years of academic and legal writing. I am comfortable evaluating and correcting text for accuracy, tone, and factual consistency. I am also detail-oriented. Legal drafting demands precision and adherence to strict guidelines, which I think is directly transferable to annotation or rating tasks.
