Elyn Chiku

I’m an emerging Health and Safety Officer committed to fostering a safe and compliant workplace. I bring a foundation in municipal safety protocol and hands-on experience supporting large scale international development projects.

In my Health, Safety, Social and Environment Officer roles at Pump Systems Africa, I developed and liaised on ESMPs, facilitated the implementation of approved plans, and supported contracting and local permits. I also conducted regular workplace inspections, supervised proper waste disposal in line with local regulation and UNOPS protocol, and contributed to incident investigation in collaboration with UNOPS-HSSE.

Earlier, as a Health, Safety and Environment Officer, I delivered OHS induction training for employees, subcontractors, and visitors. I managed community health and safety protocols to minimize construction dust impacts and ensured ongoing HSE routine inspection for compliance.

From my Health and Safety Intern experience at Kwekwe City Council, I strengthened my fundamentals through routine site inspections across municipal departments and by supporting drafting and updating municipal safety and health documentation, including performing Job Hazard Analysis to keep safe work procedures in place. I also supported inspections and assessments for local business compliance with public health regulation and assisted community disease surveillance programmes under the Health department.
