Ekanem Itoro

I’m a Computer Engineering graduate with hands-on experience across embedded systems, firmware development, cloud-integrated software platforms, and IoT sensor design. I enjoy connecting hardware and software—from soldering and sensor calibration to backend APIs and cloud deployment.

In my MedFlow capstone, I designed and built a nurse-operated hospital vital-sign kiosk using an ESP32-D microcontroller, including real-time firmware for sensor sampling, JSON packaging, and WiFi-based HTTP transmission to a cloud backend. I achieved roughly 98% upload success and 99.8% weight accuracy with sub-500ms sync, while also engineering the power chain around an LM2596 buck converter and debugging I2C addressing and load cell calibration.

I also built the supporting hospital management & digital health ecosystem: backend APIs and a real-time React dashboard for clinical staff. Using NestJS, PostgreSQL, Prisma, Express, and WebSockets, I helped unify electronic health records (EHR), tele-pharmacy, and a priority patient queue (MediQueue), including role-based dashboards and triage logic that classifies urgency (CRITICAL/HIGH/MODERATE/LOW).

Alongside projects, I completed IT Help Desk Intern rotations at Setraco Nigeria Ltd, providing first-line technical support and maintaining internal IT infrastructure. I bring that practical troubleshooting mindset into embedded and IoT work, including independent robotics work like an autonomous line-following robot.
