Deborah Wilson
@deborahwilson
Experienced Clinical Pharmacy Specialist focused on geriatric care.
What I'm looking for
I am a dedicated Clinical Pharmacy Specialist with over 19 years of experience in the field. My journey began with a Doctor of Pharmacy degree from Butler University, and I have since committed myself to improving the quality of care for veterans through comprehensive medication management and evidence-based practices. As an active member of the GRACE team at the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs, I focus on evaluating medication regimens and ensuring the appropriateness of therapy for our geriatric population.
Throughout my career, I have been involved in numerous initiatives aimed at enhancing patient outcomes and reducing resource utilization. My role includes conducting Comprehensive Geriatric Assessments, managing non-formulary drug requests, and promoting cost-saving measures by converting patients to formulary medications. I am passionate about building relationships with healthcare teams and conducting educational outreach to implement solutions that address system barriers in pharmacy practices.
In addition to my clinical work, I have taken on teaching roles as a preceptor for pharmacy residents and students, sharing my knowledge and experience in geriatric care. I am also actively involved in research, contributing to studies that expand access to comprehensive geriatric evaluations via telehealth. My goal is to continue advancing my expertise in geriatric pharmacy and to make a meaningful impact in the lives of my patients.
