At the Trinidad and Tobago Coast Guard, I perform start-up, shutdown, and maintenance on DAMEN Interceptors, including Volvo Penta diesel engines and Simrad electrical systems. I help ensure systems function properly during patrols and notify the MIPT Head Chief of faults.
As a Marine Integrated Project Team mechanic, I performed intermediate electrical and mechanical maintenance on Damen SPAs and CAPE Class vessels, and troubleshot and maintained Austal daughter craft engines. During the Suriname dry-docking refit of Damen patrol vessel CG26, I reported the overhaul process and supported quality assurance and maintenance of vessel systems.
Earlier, as a Small Boats Technician, I maintained Mercury and Yamaha outboard engines, performed engine swaps and upgrades, and conducted sea trials to test vessel and system performance. I also worked as an Auto and Diesel Mechanic, maintaining military vehicles and troubleshooting engine and transmission issues.
My training includes a B.Sc. in Mechanical Engineering from the University of the West Indies, St. Augustine Campus, along with coursework in outboard engine maintenance, marine diesel, and ship construction. I’m especially interested in marine engineering, vessel design and testing, and improving the design, maintenance, and repair of high-performance interceptors.
