Colin Malinak
@colinmalinak
I build award-winning speech, debate, and oracy programs across international schools and competitive circuits.
What I'm looking for
I founded Laoma Voice Lab in Shenzhen, a bilingual advisory practice supporting mainland families and adult professionals in speech and debate, writing competitions, college essays, and executive presentations.
At my previous position, I designed and launched a Speech & Debate Program, building curriculum, teacher guides, budgets, evaluation systems, and competition operations across 15 programs. I also led 30+ tournaments and managed international travel, safeguarding, logistics, finance, judging, and communications.
My students and teams have earned national and international placements at WIDPSC, Stanford, Harvard, TOC-China, NSDA, TFA, Yale, and other major tournaments. I develop instruction in rhetoric, argumentation, public speaking, formal debate, active listening, and inclusive classroom dialogue, including adaptations for English-language learners.
I’ve also coached and directed programs at Saint Mary’s Hall, national debate institutes, and professional associations in the U.S. and China. Through board and association leadership, I advance transparent selection processes, equity, safeguarding, and sustainable competitive-speaking opportunities.
