Senior-level communications specialist with 8+ years at federal experience, driving awareness, demand, and engagement.
What I'm looking for
I’m a Senior-Level Communications Specialist with 8+ years of CDC experience, bringing a data-driven approach to encourage behavior change and a track record of delivering culturally relevant, timely, and actionable public health messaging. I’m known for building and executing scalable communication programs and for partnering cross-functionally to align messaging and execution.
In my CDC work, I led nationwide prevention initiatives, including a shigellosis prevention campaign that generated 22M impressions and drove a 2,152% increase in target webpage traffic. I developed highly utilized print- and web-based materials (posters, infographics, policy briefs, and more), spearheaded communications and UX work for large website content, and regularly served as Acting Team Lead (GS-14) for our team. I also had the rare opportunity to be credited for my work on a high-profile, externally facing prevention article for What to Expect.
I approach my personal and professional life with a childlike curiosity that has helped shape my life’s journey thus far. I've traveled to 14 countries, mostly solo—and I believe it’s that spirit of exploration that informs just about everything I do. After earning two prestigious Agency-wide awards in my final year at CDC, I made the tough decision to step away and fully invest in my creative work. The timing, as it turned out, was fortuitous, as substantial federal restructuring would follow the next year and continue to present day.
Currently, I enjoy trades that keep me connected to culture, creativity, and community in unique and meaningful ways. I’ve written books, I handcraft soap, and I DJ whenever possible. Prior to CDC, I served in a restaurant and was even a front desk receptionist in a Dominican hostel. I believe the best communication comes from a richly lived life, and I'm grateful for the opportunity to still add to it.
