Anurag Shivarathri

Throughout my career, I’ve worked in many roles including individual contributor, one-person engineering team, system architect, engineering manager, and head of technology. Regardless of the role, I’ve always been a hands-on software engineer at heart. I have 12+ years of experience and I still write code regularly, while also being responsible for system design, technical decisions, team leadership, and aligning engineering work with business goals.

I’m largely self-driven and comfortable taking ownership of problems end-to-end. I enjoy understanding the business context, designing practical solutions, implementing them, and then scaling and maintaining them in production. I’m detail-oriented by nature and particularly interested in performance, reliability, and long-term maintainability. I like simplifying complex systems and improving existing ones rather than chasing trends for the sake of it.

Over the years, I’ve worked across backend, frontend, mobile, and infrastructure. I’ve designed and built APIs, real-time systems, offline-first mobile applications, and large multi-tenant platforms. I’ve worked with both monolithic and service-oriented architectures and am comfortable making trade-offs based on scale, team size, cost, and long-term support.

Alongside technical work, I’ve led small to mid-sized teams, mentored developers, reviewed code, and helped set engineering standards and processes. I often work closely with product and design teams, translating requirements into technical solutions while ensuring code quality and system stability are not compromised.
