What I'm looking for

I’m looking for a research-driven role where I can combine advanced materials processing and nanofluid/heat-transfer experiments with ANN/ANFIS/RSM modelling, collaborate across disciplines, and mentor students toward publishable, real-world impact.

I hold a PhD in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Johannesburg, and my research sits at the intersection of advanced materials, sustainable development, and practical engineering impact. I’m motivated by turning complex material challenges—especially those tied to energy efficiency—into rigorous, measurable solutions.

As a Post-Doctoral Research Fellow at the Centre of Nanoengineering and Advanced Materials, I serve as a Research Coordinator for a taught master’s project on the sustainable development of high-entropy alloys from scrap metals and electronic waste. I also conduct ongoing work on advanced titanium alloy and composite design and fabrication using spark plasma sintering and 3D printing, backed by advanced material characterisation using SEM/EDS, EBSD, and nanoindentation.

I focus strongly on nanofluids and their heat transfer applications, and I apply advanced modelling tools to connect experiments to predictions. In my studies, I’ve used Artificial Neural Networks (ANN), Adaptive Neuro-Fuzzy Inference Systems (ANFIS), and Response Surface Methodology (RSM), and I supervise students across materials development, characterisation, corrosion, wear, and mechanical/nanomechanical testing.

Alongside research, I’ve taught and supported learners as a Lecturer (Temporary) at the University of Johannesburg, delivering undergraduate lectures and designing assessments and learning materials. My academic path is complemented by earlier industry experience as a Senior Engineer and prototype development contributor—where I drafted components using CAD, trained users on CAD/CAE tools, supervised advanced manufacturing equipment, and contributed to development work including a RepRap 3D printer.
