Abby Merrill
@abbymerrill
Associate attorney focused on intellectual property and commercial litigation, delivering strategic research, motion practice, and discovery execution.
What I'm looking for
I’m an Associate Attorney representing clients in high-stakes intellectual property and commercial litigation in state and federal court. My practice spans copyright, trademark, patent infringement, business torts, breach of contract, unfair competition, and False Claims Act matters, with an emphasis on turning nuanced procedural and substantive issues into winning case strategy.
In my current role with Bragalone Olejko Saad PC, I draft complex motions, briefs, and pleadings—including dispositive motions and federal court filings. I oversee discovery strategy and execution, including drafting and responding to written discovery and coordinating document production, and I counsel clients on IP protection, copyright compliance, and litigation risk, settlement strategy, and regulatory implications.
Before that, I served as an Associate Attorney and Law Clerk at Cowles & Thompson, P.C., handling commercial, personal injury, premises liability, and insurance defense litigation. I drafted dispositive motions such as motions for summary judgment, motions to dismiss, and motions to compel; prepared comprehensive discovery responses; and supported case evaluation, settlement discussions, mediations, and litigation planning.
I’ve also strengthened my legal foundation through my Law Clerk and Summer Associate work at Cole, Scott & Kissane, P.A. and a Legal Externship at the U.S. Attorney’s Office, Northern District of Florida, where I conducted research and drafted responses to motions and memoranda. Beyond practice, I earned my Juris Doctor from Florida State University College of Law (GPA: 3.23/4.0) and contributed as an FSU Law Review Staff Editor, Journal of Land Use & Environmental Law Staff Editor, and Moot Court leadership, including competing in major moot court competitions, earning a Distinguished Pro Bono Award.
