Role Overview
We are seeking a strategic and visionary Director of Therapeutic Recreation to lead our innovative programs and interventions that enhance the quality of life for individuals across diverse populations. In this fully remote role, you will be instrumental in shaping and developing recreation therapy initiatives that promote emotional, social, and physical well-being.
Responsibilities
Leadership and Strategic Development:
- Design and implement comprehensive therapeutic recreation programs tailored to meet the needs of various populations, including those with physical disabilities, mental health challenges, and developmental disorders.
- Lead a team of recreation therapists, providing mentorship and fostering a culture of excellence and continuous improvement.
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to assess client needs and develop individualized treatment plans.
- Establish and monitor program goals, objectives, and outcomes to ensure alignment with organizational mission and values.
Program Evaluation and Quality Assurance:
- Conduct regular evaluations of therapeutic programs and services, utilizing evidence-based practices to enhance effectiveness and efficiency.
- Implement quality assurance measures to ensure compliance with relevant regulations and standards in therapeutic recreation.
- Gather and analyze data to measure the impact of recreational interventions on client outcomes and satisfaction.
Community Engagement and Advocacy:
- Build and maintain relationships with community organizations, stakeholders, and regulatory bodies to promote therapeutic recreation and advocate for client needs.
- Develop outreach initiatives to raise awareness and increase access to therapeutic recreation services.
- Represent the organization at conferences, workshops, and community events to share insights and best practices in therapeutic recreation.
Required and Preferred Qualifications
Required:
- Master's degree in Therapeutic Recreation, Recreation Therapy, or a related field.
- 5+ years of experience in therapeutic recreation, with a proven track record of leadership and program development.
- Current certification as a Certified Therapeutic Recreation Specialist (CTRS).
- Strong knowledge of therapeutic recreation practices, regulations, and best practices.
- Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to engage and inspire diverse stakeholders.
Preferred:
- Experience in program evaluation and quality improvement initiatives.
- Familiarity with grant writing and funding acquisition for therapeutic recreation programs.
- Demonstrated experience working with diverse populations and adapting programs to meet specific needs.
Technical Skills and Relevant Technologies
- Proficient in utilizing technology for program management, data collection, and reporting.
- Experience with electronic health record (EHR) systems and client management software.
- Knowledge of adaptive recreation equipment and techniques.
