Role Overview
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Sheet Metal Supervisor to lead our team in the fabrication and assembly of custom sheet metal products. In this role, you will be responsible for overseeing production processes, ensuring adherence to safety protocols, and driving continuous improvement initiatives to enhance product quality and operational efficiency.
Responsibilities
- Supervise daily operations of the sheet metal fabrication department, ensuring adherence to production schedules and quality standards
- Lead, mentor, and develop a team of skilled sheet metal workers, fostering a culture of safety and quality
- Implement process improvements and best practices to optimize workflow and reduce waste
- Collaborate with engineering and design teams to review project specifications and provide feedback on manufacturability
- Conduct regular inspections of work in progress to ensure compliance with specifications and industry standards
- Manage inventory levels and coordinate with procurement to ensure timely availability of materials
- Maintain accurate production records and report on key performance metrics to management
Required and Preferred Qualifications
Required:
- 5+ years of experience in sheet metal fabrication, including at least 2 years in a supervisory role
- Proven knowledge of sheet metal manufacturing techniques and processes
- Strong understanding of safety regulations and quality control standards in a manufacturing environment
- Excellent leadership and team management skills
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and specifications
Preferred:
- Experience with Lean Manufacturing principles and Six Sigma methodologies
- Familiarity with CAD software and CNC machinery
- Certifications in sheet metal fabrication or related fields
Technical Skills and Relevant Technologies
- Expertise in sheet metal fabrication processes, including cutting, bending, and welding
- Proficient in the use of hand tools and machinery specific to sheet metal work
- Knowledge of quality assurance practices and techniques
Soft Skills and Cultural Fit
- Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to make decisions under pressure
- Effective communication skills, both verbal and written, to interact with diverse teams
