Role Overview
We are seeking an experienced Scrap Metal Operations Manager to oversee and optimize our scrap metal recycling operations. In this pivotal role, you will leverage your expertise in operations management to enhance efficiency, drive profitability, and ensure compliance with industry regulations while fostering a culture of safety and sustainability.
Responsibilities
- Develop and implement operational strategies to optimize the collection, processing, and sale of scrap metal
- Oversee daily operations, ensuring adherence to quality standards, safety protocols, and environmental regulations
- Manage a multidisciplinary team, providing leadership, training, and mentorship to enhance performance and productivity
- Establish and monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) to assess operational efficiency and profitability
- Identify and implement process improvements to streamline operations and reduce costs
- Build and maintain relationships with suppliers, customers, and regulatory agencies to facilitate smooth operations
- Conduct regular audits and inspections to ensure compliance with safety and environmental standards
- Prepare and present operational reports to senior management, highlighting achievements and areas for improvement
Required and Preferred Qualifications
Required:
- 5+ years of experience in operations management within the recycling or scrap metal industry
- Proven track record of optimizing operations and driving profitability
- Strong knowledge of scrap metal recycling processes and relevant regulations
- Exceptional leadership and team management skills
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities
Preferred:
- Bachelor's degree in business administration, environmental science, or a related field
- Experience with Lean Six Sigma methodologies or similar operational excellence frameworks
- Familiarity with supply chain management and logistics in the recycling industry
