Role Overview
We are seeking a Waste Operations Manager to lead and optimize our waste management operations. This role is critical in ensuring that our waste processes are efficient, sustainable, and compliant with regulatory standards. You will be responsible for overseeing waste collection, recycling programs, and the safe disposal of hazardous materials while implementing innovative strategies to minimize waste and enhance operational performance.
Responsibilities
- Develop and execute waste management strategies that align with organizational goals and sustainability initiatives
- Oversee daily operations of waste collection and processing, ensuring adherence to safety and environmental regulations
- Manage vendor relationships and negotiate contracts for waste disposal and recycling services
- Analyze waste generation data and identify opportunities for reduction and recycling enhancements
- Lead training programs for staff on waste management best practices and compliance
- Collaborate with internal stakeholders to promote waste reduction initiatives and sustainability goals
- Monitor and report on performance metrics related to waste operations and sustainability efforts
Required and Preferred Qualifications
Required:
- Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science, Waste Management, or related field
- 5+ years of experience in waste management or operations management
- In-depth knowledge of waste management regulations and best practices
- Proven track record of implementing waste reduction and recycling programs
Preferred:
- Experience in project management and process optimization methodologies
- Certifications in waste management or environmental sustainability
- Familiarity with data analysis tools and performance metrics
Technical Skills and Relevant Technologies
- Proficient in waste management software and data tracking systems
- Understanding of environmental compliance and reporting requirements
- Experience with Lean/Six Sigma methodologies for process improvement
