Role Overview
We are looking for a seasoned Director of Safety to lead our organization's safety strategy and initiatives, ensuring that our operations meet the highest safety standards while fostering a culture of proactive safety practices. In this pivotal role, you will provide thought leadership on safety protocols, drive compliance with regulations, and champion safety as a core value throughout the company.
Responsibilities
Strategic Leadership:
- Develop and implement a comprehensive safety strategy aligned with organizational goals and regulatory requirements.
- Lead the safety team to establish and maintain effective safety management systems across all operations.
- Collaborate with senior leadership to integrate safety into business planning and decision-making processes.
Regulatory Compliance:
- Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal safety regulations and standards.
- Conduct regular audits and assessments to identify safety risks and implement corrective actions.
- Stay informed of developments in safety legislation and industry best practices, adjusting safety protocols accordingly.
Training and Development:
- Design and oversee safety training programs to educate employees on safety policies, procedures, and best practices.
- Foster a culture of continuous improvement in safety through engagement and accountability at all levels of the organization.
- Mentor safety professionals and provide guidance on incident investigations and risk assessments.
Required and Preferred Qualifications
Required:
- 10+ years of experience in safety management, with a proven track record of leading safety initiatives in complex environments.
- In-depth knowledge of safety regulations, standards, and best practices across relevant industries.
- Strong analytical skills and the ability to interpret safety data to drive decision-making and improvements.
Preferred:
- Master's degree in Occupational Health and Safety or a related field.
- Professional certifications such as Certified Safety Professional (CSP) or similar.
- Experience in crisis management and emergency response planning.
Technical Skills and Relevant Technologies
- Proficiency in safety management software and data analysis tools.
- Experience with risk assessment methodologies and incident reporting systems.
