Role Overview
We are seeking a distinguished scholar to fill the position of Endowed Chair in Russian History. This role offers a unique opportunity to contribute to the academic community through innovative research, exceptional teaching, and active engagement in public discourse surrounding Russian historical studies.
Responsibilities
- Lead and conduct advanced research in Russian history, producing high-quality publications in leading academic journals.
- Teach undergraduate and graduate courses in Russian history, including specialized topics, while fostering an inclusive and stimulating learning environment.
- Mentor graduate students and junior faculty, guiding them in their research and professional development.
- Engage with the broader community through public lectures, workshops, and collaborative projects.
- Participate in departmental governance and contribute to curriculum development, ensuring alignment with emerging trends in historical scholarship.
- Secure external funding to support research initiatives and departmental projects.
Required and Preferred Qualifications
Required:
- Ph.D. in History, Russian Studies, or a closely related field.
- A distinguished record of scholarship in Russian history, demonstrated through publications and contributions to the field.
- Strong teaching experience at the university level, with evidence of effective pedagogy and curriculum design.
- Ability to engage and inspire a diverse student body.
Preferred:
- Experience with interdisciplinary approaches and collaborations in historical research.
- Fluency in Russian and experience conducting research in Russia or with Russian archives.
- Established network in the academic community and beyond, facilitating partnerships and outreach.
Technical Skills and Relevant Technologies
- Proficiency in digital humanities tools and methodologies relevant to historical research.
- Experience with data analysis and visualization tools for historical data.
- Strong command of research databases and archival resources.
