Role Overview
We are seeking a dynamic and passionate Assistant Professor of Petroleum Engineering to join our esteemed faculty. In this role, you will contribute to advancing knowledge in the field of petroleum engineering through innovative teaching, impactful research, and active engagement with industry partners.
Responsibilities
- Develop and deliver undergraduate and graduate courses in petroleum engineering, ensuring alignment with industry standards and emerging technologies.
- Supervise and mentor students in research projects, fostering a collaborative and inclusive learning environment.
- Conduct high-quality research in areas such as reservoir engineering, drilling engineering, and production optimization, leading to publications in reputable journals.
- Engage with industry stakeholders to establish partnerships that enhance educational opportunities and research relevance.
- Participate in departmental governance, including curriculum development and accreditation processes.
- Contribute to the academic community through service activities and outreach initiatives.
Required and Preferred Qualifications
Required:
- Ph.D. in Petroleum Engineering or a closely related field.
- Demonstrated expertise in fundamental petroleum engineering principles and practices.
- Strong publication record in peer-reviewed journals and experience in securing research funding.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a commitment to mentoring students.
Preferred:
- Postdoctoral experience or prior teaching experience at the university level.
- Industry experience in petroleum exploration or production.
- Ability to integrate sustainability and environmental considerations into petroleum engineering education.
Technical Skills and Relevant Technologies
- Proficiency in reservoir simulation software, such as Eclipse or CMG.
- Familiarity with drilling and completion technologies.
- Knowledge of enhanced oil recovery techniques and sustainable practices in petroleum engineering.
