Role Overview
We are looking for a strategic and experienced Database Development Manager to lead our database engineering team in designing, developing, and maintaining complex database solutions that drive our data-centric initiatives. In this role, you will be responsible for establishing best practices, optimizing database performance, and ensuring data integrity across our systems.
Responsibilities
- Architect and implement robust database solutions that meet the needs of our business applications and analytics platforms
- Lead a team of database developers, providing mentorship and fostering a culture of continuous improvement
- Design and oversee database schemas, stored procedures, and queries to ensure maximum efficiency and scalability
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define data requirements and integrate databases with other systems
- Implement database security measures and ensure compliance with data governance policies
- Monitor database performance and conduct troubleshooting for complex database issues, utilizing tools like SQL Profiler and Query Analyzer
- Stay up-to-date with emerging database technologies and industry trends to drive innovation within the team
Required and Preferred Qualifications
Required:
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field
- 7+ years of experience in database development and management, with a focus on relational databases such as MySQL, PostgreSQL, or Microsoft SQL Server
- Proven track record of leading database projects from conception to deployment
- Strong expertise in SQL and database performance tuning techniques
- Experience with database design and modeling, including normalization and denormalization principles
Preferred:
- Master's degree in a related field
- Experience with NoSQL databases (e.g., MongoDB, Cassandra) and cloud database solutions (e.g., AWS RDS, Azure SQL Database)
- Familiarity with data warehousing concepts and ETL processes
- Experience in agile development methodologies
Technical Skills and Relevant Technologies
- Deep understanding of database architecture and design principles
- Proficiency in database performance tuning and optimization techniques
- Experience with database management tools and version control systems
- Familiarity with programming languages such as Python or Java for database integration
